The
Valleen Fraternity
Encouraged
by the progressive efforts of the villagers, Valleens living
abroad followed their example and created Fraternite Valleenne
(Valleen Fraternity) to support CODEVA financially.
The
first joint project was construction of their first and only
hospital, which was completed and inaugurated in 1980.
From
1980 to 1996, three primary schools, one secondary school, a
public market, secondary roads, agricultural and reforestation
projects were also created.
The
first attempt by the young people of La Vallee to create an
organization called Montee Valleenne to fight illiteracy was
made in 1962. Fearing persecution by the government then, they
abandoned the project. In 1976 an organization for the development
of La Vallee named CODEVA was founded.
Encouraged by the progressive efforts of the villagers, Valleens
living abroad followed their example and created Fraternite
Valleenne in 1977 to support CODEVA Financially. The common
goal was to bring improvement in the field of health, education,
reforestation and soil preservation. We contact as many people
who have root in La Vallee as possible and the organization
took off.
The
first joint project was construction of their first and only
hospital, which was completed and inaugurated in 1980. From
1980 to 1996 three primary schools, one secondary school, a
public market, secondary roads, a library, a water reservoir,
a children’s playground, agricultural and reforestation
project were also created.
With
their personal donations and fundraising efforts, the members
of the Vallean Fraternity are a strong link permitting the accomplishments
of the Angels for Haiti Projects.
